Dona Miguelina died at age 71 after contracting the Covid, in Porte Alegre, Brazil, in mid-December.

Ronaldinho himself shared the news of his admission to intensive care in a message posted on social media on December 21.

The Brazilian club Atlético Mineiro, where Ronaldinho played between 2012 and 2014, also expressed his emotion in a press release and numerous photos: “The Atleticana family is in mourning and shares the moment of pain with their idol.

May God welcome you with open arms and comfort the heart of our eternal ace.

Rest in peace, Dona Miguelina.

"

Former partner of the Brazilian artist, Bernard Mendy, now assistant coach of the PSG women, also tweeted: "My brother @ 10Ronaldinho, all my condolences, I think very much of you and your family".

Ronaldinho, had lost his father very early, in 1988, when he was only 8 years old.

He was very close to his mother Dona Miguelina, just like his brother Roberto and his sister Deisi.

The three have tinted their profile photos on Instagram with black.

In 2002, on the occasion of the 22 years of his son, Dona Miguelina, who had accompanied him to France, told us: “I would like him to continue to be a good son, wonderful as he is.

And tell him that I love him very much.

I feel very happy because he is doing good things.

It's a pleasure to see him do it.

It is our pride.

We must all stand united to succeed in his plans.

We are always like that.

The important thing is that he doesn't feel alone.

Above all, he must be able to concentrate on football and have only one concern: to play well.

At home, we are there for him.

He has changed country but everything must continue: family, friendships.

"

More than 245,000 deaths from Covid in Brazil

Ronaldinho officially ended his career in January 2018. Since then, he has notably had a complicated 2020 with an arrest and five months of detention in Paraguay, with his brother Roberto, for using false official documents.

He was released last August.

In Brazil, where President Jair Bolsonaro is sadly distinguished by his management of the pandemic, more than 245,000 people have died from the Covid.
