Serious allegations.

The German newspaper Der Spiegel, which specializes in exposures, is once again responsible for a major scandal in the sports world.

The coach of the German team in open water swimming, Stefan Lorz, is suspected of sexual assault and constant harassment of swimmers for many years and at the weekend he was fired following his publication in the newspaper.

For a long time, Der Spiegel collected photographic evidence and proof of the disturbing reality of some of the swimmers who trained under Loretz.

As early as 2009, the mother of a 15-year-old swimmer filed a complaint against him, but after several police inquiries - including an investigation by Loretz - she decided to cancel it and the procedure was stopped.

The coach's work, however, continued.

Der Spiegel did not give up and contacted the swimmers.

Five of them decided to break the bond of silence and told of the hell they went through in the company of the national coach who was largely responsible for the fate of their careers.

The evidence that emerged from the investigation is very disturbing.

One swimmer said Loretz would invite her to his office, touch her breasts and penis and masturbate in the process.

Another athlete said the coach used to photograph her and others demanding "make sexy poses."

Another swimmer testified that the coach sent her pictures of his penis and that he regularly made harassing remarks towards her and her teammates, some of them minors.

Among other things, he said according to the testimony: "You were very sexy before training today," or "Your breasts lit me up."

Loretz said over the weekend: "For more than 10 years I have been dealing with accusations of this kind and I continue to deny them all."

The 43-year-old coach was married for seven years to swimmer Anika Liebes who was the world runner-up in the 2007 200m freestyle.

The two divorced in 2013 and she returned to her previous last name.

In addition, he is the brother of Thomas Loretz, one of the greatest swimmers of all time in open water.

He has won seven gold medals at world championships, a bronze medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics and a silver medal at the 2012 London Olympics.
