Bayer Leverkusen left points in the Bundesliga to fight for the Champions League ranks, but at least avoided defeat.
Bayer played 1: 1 (0: 1) at FC Augsburg and in fifth place is four points behind the fourth-placed Frankfurt team, who defeated Bayern on Saturday.
In the past 13 competitive games, the club have only two wins.
In Augsburg the draw came about in a particularly bitter way: A blatant mistake by goalkeeper Niklas Lomb led to the early conceding goal.
