Football Bundesliga: TSG Hoffenheim confidently defeated Werder Bremen

They went into the duel with equal points, hardly any competitor had won: The opportunity to make a leap forward in the fight to stay in the league was there - TSG used it. And how.

TSG Hoffenheim celebrated a clear home win at the end of the 22nd matchday in the Bundesliga.

The team of coach Sebastian Hoeneß won against Werder Bremen 4-0 (2-0) and thus gained eight points on the relegation rank.

Bremen, level on points with TSG before the game, are twelfth and five points ahead of 16th place. Bielefeld is currently there, and Werder will play against Arminia on March 10th in a catch-up game.

In the middle of a half that could benevolently be described as “poor chance”, Hoffenheim's Ihlas Bebou scored 1-0, and this hit was surprisingly easy.

Diadié Samassékou was not disturbed in midfield, played the ball down and found the striker who had started well and who deliberately finished in front of Bremen's Jiri Pavlenka (26th minute).

The second goal also seemed amazingly simple, Christoph Baumgartner jumped the ball in front of his feet, then sprinted between Bremen's Ömer Toprak and Marco Friedl and overcame Pavlenka (44th).

Two shots in 90 minutes, Bremen couldn't manage more

Shortly after the break, Munas Dabbur decided the game with goal number three (49th), and later Georginio Rutter celebrated a special goal: The 18-year-old, who moved from Stade Rennes to Hoffenheim in the past transfer period, promptly scored his first in his Bundesliga debut Hit.

The French only needed a few minutes for this: he was substituted on in the 87th minute, and in the 90th minute + 1 he made the final score.

Hoffenheim, who played against Molde (3: 3) in the Europa League during the week and played against Bremen without numerous injured and suspended players, was hardly in danger.

A header from Toprak after a corner (18th), Werder couldn't manage anything more offensively.

A shot by Milot Rashica was still blocked, and that was Werder's attack record after 90 minutes: two shots were fired, one of which came on goal.

After all: The long-injured center forward Niclas Füllkrug celebrated his comeback as a substitute.

Werder is not known for a dangerous offensive this season anyway, but rather for a compact defense.

That it looked so full of holes against Hoffenheim was astonishing.

With 30 goals conceded, Bremen still has a better record than Bayern Munich (31 goals conceded after 22 games).
