500 days before the start of the European Championship in England, the German national soccer players started their international year with a win against Belgium.

Martina Voss-Tecklenburg's team prevailed 2-0 (1-0) against the "Red Flames" in Aachen.

It only took 88 seconds for the DFB-Elf to take the lead: Felicitas Rauch played the ball from the left to Klara Bühl, who prevailed against Laura Deloose and passed the six-yard area.

From there, Svenja Huth hit the center of the goal.

The German eleven dominated the first quarter of an hour, but were then lucky that a goal by Belgian Marie Minnaert was not given in the 26th minute of the game due to offside.

The decision was debatable.

A few minutes later Lea Schüller hit the Belgian goal after a long ball from 13 meters, but here, too, it was decided offside (30).

Shortly before the break, Sydney Lohmann missed the chance to increase: She actually only had to push in from five meters, but missed the ball. Lea Schüller did better after the restart, who increased with a nice direct decrease from twelve meters after a cross from Huth (55.).

In the second half, Nicole Anyomi, an offensive player, made her international debut, she replaced Bühl after an hour and fitted in with beautiful wing runs and passes.

Sjoeke Nüsken also made her first appearance in midfield in the DFB jersey.

National coach Martina Voss-Tecklenburg took the performance against Belgium as a proper basis, but also named the shortcomings.

»We are not satisfied with the precision, the last pass, the simple solution.

Many flanks did not get where they should be.

We have to work on that, ”she said.

Several players could not enter due to the coronavirus mutation

The meeting took place within the three nations tournament »Three Nations.

One Goal «.

The associations from Germany, the Netherlands and Belgium want to jointly host the World Cup in 2027.

The duel with the European champions from the Netherlands will take place on Wednesday (6.30 p.m. / TV: Eurosport).

Last Thursday, the Netherlands had already defeated Belgium 6-1.

With another victory, Germany can decide the tournament for itself.

In the European Championship qualification, Martina Voss-Tecklenburg's team had won all eight games, until 3: 1 (2: 1) in Ireland there had not even been a goal.

Compared to the Ireland game, Voss-Tecklenburg had to do without numerous players: Because of the entry ban for people from Great Britain, Melanie Leupolz, Ann-Katrin Berger (both Chelsea FC) and Leonie Maier (Arsenal FC) were not in the squad.

Turid Knaak (Atlético) and Lena Petermann (HSC Montpellier) were also not nominated.

Lina Magull is also out against the Netherlands after an injury in training.

By the end of the year, the team for the EM is to be developed in eleven international matches.
