Since the 1: 2 at MSV Duisburg it has been clear: SpVgg Unterhaching will not leave the table cellar anytime soon.
Will it be tight for coach Arie van Lent now?
What does the downward trend mean for the club, the share price, and youth work?
We talked about all of this with President Manfred Schwabl.
Back round curse?
Haching without a win for eleven games, in 2021 there has only been one point.
Schwabl makes it clear: It's not down to the coaching trio.
He himself would continue with a relegation to the regional league - "with even more motivation".
Manni Schwabl, things are not going well again, as is so often the case in Haching's back rounds.
To put it ironically: 1860 comes as a build-up opponent on Friday, right?
Schwabl:
For us, only irony really helps at the moment (laughs).
Measured against our situation, 1860 has more of a luxury problem.
Certainly they don't have the best run either and the 3rd division is generally very tight.
But what's the point of complaining that we've lost six times in a row by just one goal difference?
It starts from zero on Friday, so the chance is 50:50.
Haching has been without a win for eleven games, so far in 2021 there has only been one point win.
Is that a new dimension to the backcourt?
Schwabl:
It's really never been so drastic.
But it's not the coaching team, it's the overall situation, including the composition of the squad and the many dropouts of anchor players.
The main theme is generally: We just don't score enough goals.
Hain injured, Hasenhüttl injured - unfortunately we have nothing to add in the storm.
By the way, we weren't even allowed to do so in winter because of various DFB requirements.
I'll be the last to blame the coaching team for this.
I have to blame myself for that on the front line.

If only he were fit!

That means: Are you extending the free ticket for Arie van Lent that you issued four weeks ago?
Schwabl:
It stays as long as I have the feeling that the coaching team is throwing everything in - not 99 percent, but 100 percent.
Incidentally, this perception was further consolidated during the away game in Duisburg.
We were already thinking something when we got the three of them (van Lent and his assistant coaches Robert Lechleiter and Roman Tyce / Red.).
For our concept of integrating young players, the three ex-professionals are absolutely worth gold.
Why should I question that now, just because the framework conditions are currently extremely difficult?
You mean Corona, the license requirements, the many injured.
.
.
Schwabl:
Exactly.
You can now put the Klopp down or Hansi Flick - that wouldn't change anything.
With Dominik Stroh-Engel and Felix Schröter there are currently only two trained strikers, otherwise the coaches currently have no further options in the storm.
We can't put a goalkeeper in the front.
We also discussed this in the Presidium and the Supervisory Board, where everyone is of the same opinion.
That's why I don't want to hear any more coaching discussions.
We can't put a goalkeeper in the front.
1860 President Manni Schwabl on the storm disaster.
How afraid does the terrible word Regionalliga make you?
Schwabl:
There is no fear - only challenges that you have to accept.
But if it finally hits us, then we deserve it.
Then we would all have our pack in there, me first.
But: That would only increase my motivation to push everything forward.
The project is far too valuable to me for that.
We have an enormous number of top talent, important social projects, and we continue to work on the infrastructure.
In three to five years we will be completely different.
I will be measured against this in the medium term, not just in the short term, if we should really get caught this year.
When would you have reached the point where you would say: Now I don't like anymore or now I'd better clear the way?
Schwabl:
I will release it immediately if a majority in the club is of the opinion that a successful professional team with only foreign players in the 2nd Bundesliga is more important than a sustainable development with your own boys in the 3rd division.
In addition, only hara-kiri is played economically and that at the expense of the youth work and the jobs in the office.
That would really no longer be my world.
By the way, I would be insulted in this case.
Then at least my wife would be happy because I would have more time to take her for a walk, even though that is actually not my nature.
