Retention of Eyraud at OM, no planned sale: the meeting which created a wedge between supporters and management

2021-02-23T09:56:27.222Z

A few days after the press conference of OM supporters, who demand the resignation of Jacques-Henri Eyraud, the director general of OM, Hugues Ouvrard, spoke with international support groups in Marseille. A meeting that further widened a wedge between ...

The climate between OM and its groups of supporters is very tense at the moment.

In addition to the fairly mediocre purely sporting performances of Marseille players, Olympian fans have been asking for the departure of the deputy president and the owner of the club, respectively Jacques-Henri Eyraud and Frank McCourt, for a few weeks.

This sling was envenomed by the threat of the rupture of the convention which binds the ultras on the subject of the campaigns of subscriptions which dangled "JHE" by the intermediary of its general manager Hugues Ouvrard.

Many members of the OM Nation, an association created by Jacques-Henri Eyraud aiming to bring together all the groups of supporters around the world, have decided to leave this program.

They are, among other things, unhappy with the treatment of Marseille leaders towards supporters and the creation of the Agora OM, a design that should overhaul supporterism in Marseille.

Groups from Dubai, London, Miami, Tunis, Lausanne, Los Angeles and New York have already said goodbye to OM Nation.

Provence

obtained this Tuesday the content of the conversation between the representatives of this famous OM Nation and Hugues Ouvrard, responsible, by videoconference, to take stock of the club's situation and to defend the policy undertaken by its leaders.

Mandanda's mistake who offered Nantes a goal last Saturday (1-1)

McCourt's renewed confidence in Eyraud ... which does not pass to the supporters

“Frank (McCourt, editor's note) has renewed his confidence in Jacques-Henri, he thinks that“ JHE ”is the right person at the head of OM.

It's his club, he put 370 million euros in it, he has the right to decide who runs it.

I am not telling you who should be the leader of your associations.

The governance of a company belongs to its owner.

It is not by shouting "I want the head of the king" that we obtain the head of the king, "Hugues Ouvrard would have announced, the extreme opposite of what OM supporters are demanding.

A supposedly renewed confidence on the part of the owner in his deputy chairman despite the notable incidents of the Commandery and the massive exodus of international groups.

The former leader of Xbox France would have continued by praising the work of his hierarchical superior, while acknowledging that he could have made mistakes: "Jacques-Henri made mistakes, but he also made the club progress".

On its momentum, Hugues Ouvrard refutes any hypothesis of a buyout and sale of OM: "The club is not for sale, we have never received an offer, nor from a person in Arabia Arabia or Tunisia or France.

Nothing.

Frank McCourt's project is long term.

(…) The club will not be sold because it is not for sale ”.

The announcement too much for the groups of supporters of Santiago de Chile and Tel Aviv who decided to leave OM Nation following this meeting with the general manager of the club.

Among the final sections that still adhere to the program are those of San Francisco and Barcelona.

The conflict between the supporters and the Olympian leaders is taking a very important turn, and the management seem completely disconnected from the demands of the supporters.

As well as the latter seem absolutely out of step with the aspirations and projects that the managers of the club want to put in place.

All this bears the contours of a dialogue of the deaf.

It remains to be seen who will pay the most for his deafness.
