Atlanta player Willie Te Bee passed away today (Tuesday) at the age of just 21.
The Ivory Coast footballer has died of liver cancer he has been battling for the past few months.
Te Bee has been in Ivory Coast for the past few months, where he was battling the illness that overwhelmed him this morning.
"President Antonio Percassi and the entire Atlanta family are saddened to the depths of their souls following the death of Willie Te Bee," the club said in a statement. " "A key place in the youth league and helping the team win the championship, but above all leave a great memory. We mourn his death and share in the grief of the family and his lovers. Rest in peace, Willie."
Te Bee was a back-up midfielder who joined Atlanta from ASEC Mimosas off the Ivory Coast in January 2019 and has since been loaned out for one season to Pescara and has returned from it.
For the past six months, as mentioned, he has not played and stayed at the Ivory Coast.
