The EC Peiting has significantly increased its chances of direct play-off participation.

The “Starbulls Rosenheim” managed an away win - also because of an early “impact hit”.

Rosenheim - Nardo Nagtzaam clenched his gloved hands into fists and shook them vigorously.

The gesture combined relief and satisfaction at the same time.

In the 58 minutes before that, the contingent player of the EC Peiting had not used numerous top-class chances.

But when it really mattered in the Oberliga away game against the "Starbulls Rosenheim", the Dutchman was there.

The hosts had put everything on one card and wanted to force the equalizer and overtime with six field players.

Nagtzaam conquered the target and shot it into the orphaned goal to make it 3-1.

With the success on Tuesday evening, the ECP increased its chances of direct entry into the play-offs.

"The key to victory was that we were already present in the first third," said ECP trainer Sebastian Buchwieser.

A good two weeks ago, Peiting lost 4-2 in Rosenheim - and received four goals in the first part of the game.

This time the guests quickly stopped the “Starbulls” attack vortex.

Ty Morris used the first chance to make it 1-0 (2nd).

The goal "was probably an effective hit for Rosenheim," said Buchwieser.

As a result, Peiting acted in a disciplined manner, the "Starbulls" (after all, the team with the most goals) only rarely developed.

And if a dangerous shot was made, like Florian Krumpe (8th), goalkeeper Florian Hechenrieder (in this case with a strong save) was there.

The Peitinger could have led even higher in the first third break: Nagtzaam failed three times in a promising position (4th, 7th, 15th), Manuel Bartsch recorded two dangerous actions (14th, 19th).

EC peiting in the first third with many chances

The middle third started with two top-class Rosenheim chances by Curtis Leinweber (21st) and Tobias Meier (22nd).

As a result, there were numerous offensive actions on both sides.

The goalkeepers stood out - Hechenrieder for Peiting and Andreas Mechel for Rosenheim.

On the ECP side, Morris (23rd), Daniel Reichert (24th), Simon Maier in power play (31st) and Nagtzaam (34th) had the best opportunities.

Only the "Starbulls" scored one goal in this period of the game: shortly after a Rosenheim power play had passed, Leinweber scored the deserved 1: 1 (30th).

Before that, Dennis Schütt (25th) and Kyle Gibbons just failed when they went it alone (28th).

In the final section, the game lived from the tension of who would score the so important second goal.

Nagtzaam was close twice (46th, 47th).

Elias Maier (45th) and Daniel Reichert (52nd) also had shot opportunities.

The ECP had to survive two undernumbered situations (43rd, 47th).

The second time, Rosenheim's Tobias Draxinger had two top chances.

Ultimately, a power play put the ECP on course for victory.

Morris forced a foul, in the following majority Reichert scored the 2: 1 (54th) after a great feint with a precise flick.

The "Starbulls" then took the goalkeeper for a field player off the ice early - Nagtzaam made everything clear with his goal.

Rosenheim only got one chance from Gibbons (again with six field players).

Buchwieser praised the “unified team performance” of his troops, which were “very, very committed”.

“We were also up to date in terms of play,” said the ECP coach.

Rosenheim's coach John Sicinski was disappointed after the third defeat in a row - a novelty for the "Starbulls" this season: "I don't want to diminish Peiting's performance, but in the end it wasn't enough from us."

Statistics:

1st third: 0: 1 (1:16) Morris (Heger, Feuerecker).

2nd third: 1: 1 (29:17) Leinweber (Draxinger, Daxlberger).

Third third: 1: 2 (53:58) Reichert (Nagtzaam, Feuerecker / 5-4), 1: 3 (58:03) Nagtzaam (Feuerecker, Mazanec / empty-net).

Penalty minutes: Rosenheim 10, Peiting 8. Referees: Kapzan, Polaczek;

Kociol, Sauer.

Spectators: none.
