There will be a change of coach for the second team of TSV Dorfen in the new season. The previous A-youth coaches Jensen and Ertl will take over from June.

There will be a change of coach for the second team of TSV Dorfen in the new season.

The previous A-youth coaches Jensen and Ertl will take over from June.

Dorfen - duo follows duo: The sporting management of the second TSV Dorfen soccer team will change in the new season.

This was announced by the technical director of the eastern division, Markus Wetzel, in an interview with the local newspaper.

The TSV A-class team (group 8) is currently being trained by the coaching duo Roland “Rolli” Grasser and Wolfgang “Wolli” Eicher.

In the new season Thomas "Toto" Ertl and Niklas "Nik" Jensen will take over.

For years, TSV Dorfen has been focusing more on its own youth.

This is how players from the A youth division make it into the TSV district league team again and again.

"The successful path should be continued", emphasizes Wetzel.

In the course of the A youth reform in the 2021/22 season (we reported) they wanted to "set an example on the pitch".

The two current A-youth coaches Ertl and Jensen will switch to the second team together with all their players in the new season.

"Due to the reform, the entire A-youth is moving into the men's team," explains Wetzel.

Ertl and Jensen: No strangers in Dorfen

Thomas Ertl is no stranger to Dorfen.

The 32-year-old played for a long time at TSV - including appearances in the district league - then at TSV St. Wolfgang and most recently at FC Hörgersdorf.

From the neighboring club he will now move back to Dorfen and in the new season he will be player-coach in the second, reports Wetzel.

His 30-year-old coaching partner Niklas Jensen, who grew up in Dorfen's youth and was most recently active in TSV St. Wolfgang's second team, will also be available as a player-coach.

The technical director explains that the second team is already “very young” and will have a “brutally young team” with an average age of around 20 for the coming season with the current A-youth players.

Older, more experienced players are of course still indispensable on the pitch, they would certainly be good for the young team.

The internal coaching change is not a negative evaluation of the work, any dissatisfaction or discrepancies with the current coaching team Grasser / Eicher, Wetzel expressly emphasizes.

The duo have done an excellent job over many, many years, as a youth coach as well as with the second team, and were also immediately involved in every club action next to the pitch.

TSV Dorfen: We owe a lot to Grasser and Eicher

"TSV football owes a lot to Rolli and Wolli", the 2nd department head Berni Schöberl is full of praise for the extraordinary commitment of the two outgoing coaches.

The fact that Grasser and Eicher are “a bit disappointed” in view of the decision is of course understandable.

"We would be extremely happy if the two of them continued to get involved with the TSV and have given them up to choose which task they want to take on," he reports.

When asked, Grasser said that he had coordinated with his partner: "We will definitely end the season with our boys, if there is any game because of Corona." How things will then go on is still open.

“At least I keep all options open.” The decision of the sports management “I can't quite understand, but I have to accept it,” says Grasser.

"We have been training a very young runner-up for years now, and now that we have been successful, the coach is changing." Grasser does not harbor a grudge against TSV, he emphasizes.

The future coach of the second, Thomas Ertl, explains that he will move from FC Hörgersdorf to Dorfen and will therefore also be available as a player.

"We go with our boys, all of whom come into the men's area," says the 32-year-old.

He also emphasizes that he and his coaching partner Jensen want to strengthen the young team with their own experience as a player on the pitch.

But he will "not be a regular".

"As long as there are enough players who impose themselves, I'll stay on the bench or play half-time."
