, the Alpine Skiing World Cup has

started

the 2020/21 season

.

In the women’s category,

Petra Vlhová from

Slovakia

took an impressive lead with a winning streak in the first few races.

Only on the very first date in

Sölden

did she have to

admit

defeat to

Marta Bassino

from Italy.

Lucas Braathen was

successful

with the men

.

The 20-year-old Norwegian won in Sölden ahead of Swiss

Marco Odermatt

.

The early race marked the start of this exceptional 2020/21 season, which is due

to end

on March

in Switzerland.

Alpine skiing: World Cup dates 2020/21 canceled due to Corona

How exactly this season will go is hard to predict.

At the first race there were no spectators, the

competitions in the USA

were even

canceled entirely

.

Instead, there are now additional stations in Europe.

The combination competitions are also canceled.

At least the viewers can still be sure that the events taking place will be broadcast live on TV and also in the live stream.

Petra Vlhová is on course for the title after winning the slalom and parallel competition last year.
