The scene of the accident (Photo: screenshot, from Twitter)
Woods, who had been in a serious car accident in the past and survived it almost unscathed, was on his way to filming for a TV show in which he was to star alongside New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brice.
On Tuesday, as part of the filming for the same show, he also met former NBA star Dwayne Wade on the golf course.
Woods reportedly left the meeting place late and was driving at excessive speed, which apparently caused him to lose control of the vehicle.
He bumped into the guardrail, and his vehicle overturned and was dumped on the side of the road.
He underwent surgery after the accident for several hours, as he suffered limb injuries, particularly in one of his legs.
Police are still investigating the circumstances of the incident, in part because of the desire to understand what caused Woods to lose control and whether these are road defects that need urgent repairs.
