Handball: 3 things to know before Flensburg-PSG

2021-02-25T07:28:23.348Z

Nothing seems to stop the club from the capital in the Champions League before its perilous trip on Thursday to the leader of the championship a

Barely two days after their show of force at home against Kielce, PSG returned to the Champions League with a trip to the Germans in Flensburg.

The opportunity for the Parisians, 3rd in the group A standings, to get one point closer to their opponents, who had won (29-28) in the first leg.

Paris loves Germany.

In twelve confrontations in European competition with Flensburg, the capital club have won eight times for three losses.

The first duel, in 2005-2006, had largely turned in favor of the Germans (37-24).

The Flens-Arena, a few kilometers from the Danish border, has since become one of the favorite places of PSG which remains there on a series of three successes in a row, including the last in 2019 (30-29).

Erase Coubertin's disillusion.

On September 23, PSG finally found the ground after almost 200 days of inactivity.

Dominators for three quarters of the time against the current leader of the German championship, Nikola Karabatic and his teammates had then faltered to lose in the money-time.

They then lost in Meshkov Brest, then in Kielce.

Since then, Raul Gonzalez's team has been intractable with five consecutive victories (if we except the Final Four in December).

The marathon continues.

This Thursday, February 25, PSG will play its third game in six days.

After Chartres, last Saturday, Kielce and therefore Flensburg, the week will end this Sunday, in Istres, on the 18th day of the Starligue.

In the Champions League, whose group stage will end on March 4, there will still be two matches to play for the Parisians: March 2 with a trip to the Norwegians in Elverum (new date) and finally the 4 with the ultimate reception of the Hungarians from Szeged.

Note that if this qualifying phase ended now, they would face… Nantes, in the round of 16.
