The Washington Wizards and Danny Abdia achieved a prestigious 110: 112 away win over the Denver Nuggets early Thursday morning after a big drama in the closing seconds, sealing the trip to the West with three wins in four games.
Scott Brooks' team went up to a 18:12 balance.
Abdia, who in the last game in which Washington lost to the Los Angeles Clippers received a few minutes due to an offense problem, was given 20 minutes this time.
In contrast to the loss in California, the 20-year-old Israeli did score this time, but recorded a weak game with only 2 points (1/1 from the field), 2 rebounds and 2 assists.
The game was mostly close, with Washington managing to escape only up to a 12-point lead in the second quarter (32:44).
The Nuggets kept a close game in the third quarter mostly thanks to the off-archery shots (15/38 total per game).
The great drama as mentioned began in the closing minutes.
With a 106: 110 lead over Washington Russell Westbrook (16-point triple-double, 10 rebounds and 10 assists) lost a ball 1:27 minutes to go, and instead of closing the story almost definitively allowed the Nuggets (15:17 balance) to stay alive.
Washington almost kicked the bucket again 51 seconds to go.
After Robin Lopez was blocked, the Nuggets were given at least a chance to force a draw, but with a 112: 110 deficit Jamal Marie (34 points, 6/11 from three) missed a shot over the arc.
The Wizards once again gave the Nuggets a chance to win after Raul Neto, who recorded a good game off the bench with 15 points, missed a layup and gave Scott Malone's side a chance to win.
After Nikola Jokic, with another good game (24 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists) took a rebound, Pekondo Campozzo was not content with trying to force a draw.
The 29-year-old Argentine threw off the arc, but missed.
110: 112 to Washington in the end, a sixth win in seven games and a second in a week over the Nuggets.
Bradley Bill as usual led the Wizards scoring with 33 points (11/11 from the penalty line).
Washington hopes to continue the momentum when it returns to the capital on the night between Saturday and Sunday (2:00 a.m. Israel time), then meets the Minnesota Timberwolves.
