The team of the hour in the Bundesliga surprisingly lost at the start of the 23rd matchday.

Eintracht Frankfurt lost 1: 2 (1: 0) at Werder Bremen and thus missed their sixth win in a row.

For the first time since December 11th last year, the team of coach Adi Hütter had to admit defeat in the league.

André Silva gave Frankfurt the lead (9th minute), but that was not enough: Theodor Gebre Selassie managed to equalize Bremen (47th), Josh Sargent even turned the game around (62nd).

In the table, Frankfurt remains fourth, the lead on Leverkusen fifth place, which plays against Freiburg on Sunday, is five points.

Bremen improved to twelfth place and is eight points ahead of the relegation rank for the time being.

The game actually started badly for Werder, you could say: The team picked up where they left off in the 4-0 draw against Hoffenheim last Sunday.

Frankfurt took a corner quickly, surprisingly quickly for the Bremen team, who were still in the penalty area.

Filip Kostic then crossed the ball towards the near post, where Silva was able to head the ball into the goal without having to fight a duel (9th).

Only: Not too much came from the unity afterwards.

Amin Younes headed the ball next to the goal (29th), a mixture of shot and pass from Kostic flew a few meters past the long corner (54th), that was it for a long time on Frankfurt opportunities.

Werder was more dangerous, and Milot Rashica was often the focus: He failed with a free kick to goalkeeper Kevin Trapp (26th), shortly afterwards he prevailed against Makoto Hasebe and Martin Hinteregger, flicking the ball from the right with the left into the far corner , but didn't hit the goal, but hit the crossbar (34th).

Because Romano Schmid's attempt at the corner was also diverted (40th), Frankfurt's leadership took the break.

The compensation was not prevented, but only postponed.

That was also due to Rashica: He accepted a pass under pressure from an opponent, processed it technically well and then played it in depth for Gebre Selassie, who started on the right.

He hit the far corner, but was only allowed to cheer after a delay.

Initially, the goal was rejected because of a supposed offside position, but the referee team corrected this wrong decision afterwards (47th).

In the 2: 1 Maximilian Eggestein served striker Sargent, who hit the far corner and then instead of celebrating looked in the direction of the assistant referee - he apparently assumed that he had been offside.

It didn't, although it wasn't missing much.

Another Werder goal was denied because of offside, and Sargent's shot from an acute angle was blocked by Trapp (67th).

Only then did Frankfurt find their way back into this game.

Twice the guests forced Werder goalkeeper Jiri Pavlenka to intervene, both Kostic (75th) and Silva (76th) failed on the goalkeeper, who thus retained Werder's first success after three previously winless games.
