Eran Zehavi proved once again on Thursday that despite the start of his stuttering season in the Netherlands, he can deliver the goods in the European arena as well after being close to advancing Eindhoven on his own to the last eight of the Europa League.
The Israeli national team striker scored a great double and a dramatic goal by the Greeks in the 89th minute left Zehavi & Co. out of the secondary tournament on the continent.
Despite the convincing ability, there are those who still claim that Zahavi's success does no good to PSV.
Wim Kift, the club's former striker and one who wore the Dutch national team uniform, wrote a column in Telegraph in which he claimed that the treatment Zahavi receives from his coach, Roger Schmidt, hurts his teammate, Donial Mullen.
"Mullen is as ambitious as Zehavi and wants to be the top scorer in the Dutch league and be part of the team in the upcoming Euros to grow up to be a scorer and move to a team in a big league, but Zehavi's presence will not help him do that."
Another wrote and said: "It would have been nice if Zehavi and Mullen would complement each other, but that does not happen. Mullen's qualities are preferred without argument and he always finds himself in the right place and at the right time, but Zehavi is Roger Schmidt's favorite choice because he is the one who brought "To Eindhoven. Zehavi always plays if he is fit while Schmidt gives Mullen more time to rest and replaces him more often. If Mullen is always replaced, it will give him a feeling that Schmidt thinks Zahavi is more important than him."
