It's an excellent operation for FC Metz.
The Garnets won in the last moments of the meeting in Bordeaux (1-2), thus winning three precious points in the race for Europe.
Yet it was the Girondins who had made the best start.
The men of Jean-Louis Gasset, who were keen to revive after four defeats in the last five meetings, were the most dangerous in the first minutes.
Samuel Kalu, very active, was decisive in the 14th minute by perfectly recovering a cross from Youssouf Sabaly from the right (1-0).
The Messins reacted after this opener, but too timidly.
Neither Lamine Gueye (19th), nor Pape Sarr managed to equalize.

But back from the break, the Garnets were more enterprising, no doubt thanks to the tactical adjustments made by Frédéric Antonetti.
After chances obtained by Pape Sarr, Fabien Centonze, it was Thomas Delaine, already dangerous in the 50th minute, who offered the equalizer to his team.
On a well-played transition, the left piston of FC Metz returned to his right foot before rolling his shot, which hit the left post of Benoît Costil before finishing his race in the net (1-1, 72nd).
The end of the match was then quite open.
Ben Arfa, left on the bench at the start of the match, entered to make the difference, while the Messins tried to rely on Thierry Ambrose and Vagner.
It was these last two that finally stood out in the last minutes.
In additional time, on a counter-attack, Farid Boulaya shifted Ambrose, who found Vagner directly in space, in the area.
The Cape Verdean, alone, quietly pushed the ball to the bottom of the cages to offer the victory to the Garnets (1-2, 90th + 1).
Thanks to this success, FC Metz temporarily climbs to 5th place (41st points) and positions itself as a contender for Europe.
For their part, the Girondins, who experienced a new disillusion, point to 11th place (33 points).
