Almost the only sure thing.

Sapropoulos (Photo: Danny Maron)

The loss to Bayern Munich on Tuesday (Thursday) determined with high probability that the Yellows will not be in the Euroleague playoffs this season either.

At this point in time, before the final third of the season, we made an initial assessment of the Yellows' roster for next season.

One of the important variables in this analysis is the question of the Yellows' budget.

As previously written, the league teams have pledged according to the outline of the safety net to cut players' salaries by 20 percent next season compared to the 2019/20 season.

Maccabi Tel Aviv is still not sure what the outline of the crowd's outlook will look like towards the start of next season, so the question of appointments is still open.

The answers to these questions may change some of the variables here and affect the extension of a contract or the release of certain players.

Coach Yannis Sapropoulos holds a contract for next season, and although he has not been immune to criticism lately either, only a professional catastrophe will prevent him from opening it as the Yellows' coach.

Maccabi Tel Aviv digests: "The season is pretty lost and a month and a half of games remain"

Expensive contract, little contribution.

Signed for next season

Scotty Wilbkin - The

star of the Yellows has a contract until the end of the 2022/23 season, and although he earns the highest salary in the team and looks less good than last season, the team will not give up his services and build the new team around him.

John Dibertolomao - The

captain received a two-year contract last summer with an option for a third season.

Although he is not one of the stars of the season, his status is solid in the rock and he will be on the team next season as well.

Ante Žižić - The

Croatian center signed a two-year contract in the summer after the Yellows managed to sign him under the nose of Real Madrid.

At Maccabi, they gave Zizic a lot of time to get into things, but there is no doubt that this is a disappointment in light of expectations.

Within the team, the chin has supporters and it is also difficult to land quality chins in Yad Eliyahu over the past few years, so it is too early to say how Maccabi will behave with the player.

Angelo Cloiaro -

The American forward signed a two-year contract this summer, which is significantly lower than his first contract at the club.

Cloiaro is considered a defensive anchor but quite limited offensively.

As in the case of Žižić, the decision on how to deal with it is also likely to be related to market alternatives.

Will continue despite the decline in capacity.

Optional

Othello Hunter -

Probably the most intriguing question mark.

The chin will celebrate 35 even before the end of the current season, and is still a central and quality part of the Yellows' roster.

The problem with him is mainly the crew near Žižić, who does not prove himself.

Also, there is the high salary in his contract valued at over $ 1 million.

It is not inconceivable that the decision regarding Zizic will also affect the Yellows' decision regarding Hunter.

Chris Jones -

In his debut season in the Euroleague, the center saw mostly a bench, but recently started to get the opportunity from Yannis Sapropoulos, looks great in the league and is starting to demonstrate his abilities in the European factory as well.

The fact that he is a relatively cheap player makes the possibility that he will remain more realistic.

Oz Blazer

- The Yellows' leading Israeli slinger in the league is registered for the team's promotion to the semi-finals of the State Cup.

Blazer is very much loved by the team and despite the fact that he did not manage to make too much of an impact in the Euroleague, it seems that Maccabi will realize the possibility of keeping him for a second season.

Omri Caspi - Caspi

's contract was signed in the summer of 2019 for three years, with various exit options, while Maccabi did not have an exit option last summer.

Caspi was injured after two months last year and returned to the pitches only after a year, but as soon as he started getting back to business this season, he fell ill and missed a month and a half.

He is back in shape now, but only the end of his big season will not make the Yellows want to end this precious contract.

Sandy Cohen - The

citizen is signed until 2023, when the Yellows have exit options.

Cohen has not had too many opportunities to prove what he knows, and although he is considered one of the club's projects, it is very early to know whether he will continue or not.

TJ Klein - The

citizen only recently signed with Maccabi, which holds an option for him at the end of the current season.

The decision about him will be made at a much later stage.

Only a turn in the plot will excuse the Yellows.

Terminating a contract

Elijah Bryant - The

U.S. Guard's representatives have already shown where he's headed next summer, signaling his intentions to move to the NBA.

Bryant will try to get a contract in the best league in the world and only if he does not succeed, he may return to Europe.

Tyler Dorsey -

Maccabi managed to lower Dorsey's salary a bit this summer, but it is clear that his current season is less good than last year.

Dorsey wanted to return to the NBA at the end of last season, but the postponement of the league prevented him from doing so.

His main goal will be to try to do that again this summer.

Dragon Bender -

After a whole summer of deliberations, Maccabi Tel Aviv landed Bender in the hope that he will look completely different from his previous candidacy at the club.

The Croatian has not become a leading player, and Maccabi will look for a better option for next season.

Yuval Sussman - This

summer, Sussman's contract, which was upgraded during last season, will end.

On the one hand, Maccabi Tel Aviv will want to see him continue to extend his contract, on the other hand, Sussman and his representatives will examine the European market, but it is clear to everyone that the many injuries he has suffered recently may be an influential factor.

As of today, it seems that the chance that he will continue in the team for a few more years is very realistic.

Will tie his future at the club despite the injuries?

the young

Dori Sahar, Idan Albert and Yonatan Atias - it

seems that Sahar will continue for another season in the hope that he will see more than 10 minutes for the game he gets this season in the league.

Albert, who returned to the Yellows after two years in which he tried his luck elsewhere, is expected to try to borrow again, as will Atias.

Hope to get more league minutes.

The question of reinforcement

The team will certainly be strengthened in the guard positions, following the expected departure of Elijah Bryant and Tyler Dorsey.

The team will try to land at least one proven player in this position when among the names who end a contract and have previously been linked with the Yellows are Jordan Lloyd from the Red Star Belgrade and Wade Baldwin from Bayern Munich.

Another position the Yellows will seek to strengthen is position number 4. American forward Kevin Harvey who was close to signing last season, is strong on the Yellows' lists, despite the failure of Locomotive Cuban this season.

Another name that came up all season in the context of Maccabi is Quincy Acey, but after a year without basketball and at the age of 31, it seems that he will not return next to Eliyahu.

Will come to the hall?

Last summer, Jake Cohen left the team and signed for one season in the Spanish Oberduiro.

The good season that Cohen is recording in Spain, together with the problem of the Yellows in position number 4, is expected to make him a leading candidate to return in the summer to the club for a third term.

Maccabi is examining a number of options for signing young players as projects in recent years.

Walla!

Sport learned that the club is closely following Gabi Chechashvili (21, 2.12), who is recording 9.3 points and 7.5 rebounds for Hapoel Galil Elyon this season and may join him on a long-term contract.

The player signed a two-year contract in the summer with the team from Kfar Blum.
