Football: legend of the Tigers, André-Pierre Gignac extends three years in Mexico

The 35-year-old French striker will remain at the Monterrey Tigres until 2024. Expatriate since 2015, André-Pierre Gignac has become an icon

The club from the northeast of the country announced the big news Friday, February 26 in the evening on its social networks, stretching the "lease" with the striker, who has become a legend in Mexico, until 2024.

"I gave you my word by telling you that I will do my whole career here, and today the club gives me the confidence to do it", proclaimed Gignac in a message to his supporters, on his Instagram account.

“El Bomboro”, his nickname there, obtained Mexican citizenship in 2019.

He stacks goals, trophies and records

In their press release, the Tigers ensure that "APG" will probably end his career there, he who will then be 38 years old.

The former Toulousain will have spent nine years in South America, full of success.

Personal, already, since the former international tricolor (36 caps, 7 goals) has become over the successful seasons the historic top scorer of the Monterrey club, with 147 goals.

And with 125 goals, he is also the most prolific European in the history of the Liga MX, the home league.

The one who started pro in Lorient in 2004 also filled the trophy cabinet with his club, notably winning four Mexican league titles and a Concacaf Champions League in 2020. He also guided his teammates to the final of the World Club Cup, where he lost to Bayern Munich (1-0) on February 11.
