It is a shock which risks being decisive for the maintenance.
Chambly (18th) moves to Dunkirk (16th) which is ahead of it by 4 points.
The objective for Chambly, which remains on four consecutive defeats and which is still diminished by the effects of the Covid, will already be happy not to lose in a direct competitor before recovering all its vital forces for the final sprint.
Players "covid" still in recovery
Two weeks after the outbreak (up to 11 cases among players and 3 staff members), the situation has somewhat normalized on the Covid front in Chambly.
No new case has emerged and several affected players are gradually returning.
Delos, Camelo, Beaulieu and Flochon make their return to the group.
But the staff have to be patient with them.
Two players affected by the Covid, Gonzalez and Doucouré, were also injured during their recovery.
"I have a few returns but in any case, they do not have the capacity to make a full match, recognizes Bruno Luzi.
They only did a few group sessions and therefore have a physical delay because the Covid leaves consequences.
"
Be ready for the final sprint
Last week, President Fulvio Luzi estimated that “Chambly was going to have a hard time for another month”.
If this Covid episode will leave traces, the staff hopes to have a full and operational workforce within a fortnight.
“Chambly will already have a different face in Toulouse (March 13), believes Bruno Luzi.
In Dunkirk and against Troyes, we will continue to do with the means at hand.
But after that, there will be ten games left.
We will see a different Chambly for this money-time.
"
Dunkirk, a trap?
This trip to a direct competitor is stuck between matches against leading teams.
After having resisted well (1-0 defeat) in Clermont (2nd) and against Auxerre (5th), Chambly will face Troyes (1st) then Toulouse (5th).
On paper, this match in Dunkirk therefore seems the most affordable.
But Bruno Luzi wants to play down the issue: “It's not a final.
There will be other games that will be expensive.
They are better than us in the standings, they are at home, they are favorites.
It's a team that has values, that never gives up.
We are used to facing them for 8-9 years, we are alike in terms of state of mind.
