The Norwegian Gyda Westvold Hansen won the first Nordic Combined World Championship gold.
At the women's premiere at the Nordic World Ski Championships in Oberstdorf, the 18-year-old prevailed in a Norwegian triple victory over the sisters Mari (+13.8 seconds) and Marte Leinand Lund (+28.8).
The American co-favorite Tara Geraghty-Moats did not get past fifth place after a weak jump.
In addition to the results, the main thing in Oberstdorf on Saturday was to make history.
For the first time, the combined athletes made it into the World Cup program.
Its own World Cup series started for the first time in December, and Geraghty-Moats won the premiere in Ramsau, Austria.
Nordic combined was the last of the Olympic sports that was previously reserved for men at the highest level.
Now the World Cup series is to be expanded, due to the corona crisis, only one competition took place this winter instead of the planned five.
The next big premiere is to be celebrated at the Olympia in Milan 2026.
"I hope that you can see here that the combination of women has the right to be here," said the former ski jumping world champion Svenja Würth, who finished in 17th place (+2: 30.9).
"It's always something special to be part of sports history." The best German was Cindy Haasch, who was only 16 years old in eleventh place (+2: 09.2 minutes).
