Four top teams started the 23rd matchday of the second division with 42 points.
As one of them, VfL has done its duty with ease.
Against the bottom of the table from Würzburg, Robert Zulj (21st minute), Danny Blum (62nd) and Gerrit Holtmann (81st) ensured the undisputed success of the Bochum team, who have meanwhile taken first place.
On Monday evening, however, Hamburger SV can recapture it in the city derby at FC St. Pauli (8.30 p.m., TV: Sky, live ticker: SPIEGEL.de).
Holstein Kiel celebrated a happy victory in the promotion race.
A penalty from Alexander Mühling (81st) made it 1-0 (0-0) against Erzgebirge Aue and provisionally second place.
The alleged 0: 1 by Ben Zolinski was correctly rejected because of offside (5th), shortly afterwards Holstein goalkeeper Ioannis Gelios parried with a double chance against Zolinski and Florian Krüger (9th).
Kiel took control, but the guests were uncomfortable and close to the opponent.
When Holstein got through, Aues goalkeeper Martin Männel was there (41st).
After winning the ball, Aue continued to move forward quickly - but the Philippine international John-Patrick Strauss was also just offside when he hit (54th).
Kiel will travel to HSV on Wednesday (March 8) after the cup quarter-finals at the fourth division club Rot-Weiss Essen.
Proved morals, lost points.
So the Fürth conclusion after the 2: 2 at Hannover 96. Genki Haraguchi (41st) had made the 1-0 out of nowhere for the hosts, who had previously been clearly dominated by the guests.
Havard Nielsen (68th) scored 1: 1 for the promotion candidate.
Just two minutes later Moussa Doumbouya (70th) put Hannover in the lead again, Dickson Abiama (76th) was responsible for the 2-2.
The 96ers made amends for the unconvincing performance at 2: 3 at Fortuna Düsseldorf last Sunday, when the Fortunes got three points despite being outnumbered.
