A victory that feels good.
AC Milan, after two defeats, relaunched at the expense of Roma (2-1) Sunday night at the Stadio Olimpico, consolidating its second place in the standings to four points behind Inter Milan.
In an intense match and on many occasions between two teams who had yet played Thursday in the Europa League, the Milanese opened the scoring on a penalty from Franck Kessié just before the break (43rd).
Roma quickly returned to a nice strike from Jordan Veretout (50th), for the tenth goal in Serie A for the French midfielder, but was punished on one of his many defensive approximations of the evening: a poor clearance from goalkeeper giallosso Paul Lopez was quickly exploited by the Rossoneri and concluded by Ante Rebic (58th).
Zlatan Ibrahimovic was already out at that point in the match, obviously not at his best physically and replaced in the 55th minute.
An early exit for the Swedish star on the eve of a special week for him: all week long, he will indeed be the star guest of the San Remo song festival, a great cathodic event popular with Italians.
With this victory Milan (52 pts) now has six lengths ahead of Juventus, hung on Saturday by Verona (1-1), and Atalanta Bergamo, victorious Sampdoria (2-0).
Roma are 5th eight points behind the Rossoneri.
