The recent giant world champion Mathieu Faivre won the giant of Bansko (Bulgaria) on Sunday, the 2nd World Cup victory of his career.
On a cloud for two weeks, Faivre chained a fourth podium in four races: he became world champion in parallel and giant last week in Cortina d'Ampezzo (Italy) and had finished 2nd in the first giant of Bansko on Saturday.
In the lead in the first round, the Niçois were 75/100 ahead of Switzerland's Marco Odermatt on Sunday, who gained points from the leader of the general classification Alexis Pinturault, 3rd at 81/100.
Pinturault leads the race to the big globe by 210 points ahead of the Swiss with nine races from the end of the season (the victory is worth 100 points) and by 25 points the ranking of the discipline also ahead of Odermatt while there are still two giants to compete.
This is the first time since October 2019 that two French people have climbed the podium as a giant (Pinturault had won ahead of Faivre in Sölden in Austria).
The collective performance is completed by the fourth place of Thibaut Favrot, the best result of his career.
Winner on Saturday, the Croatian Filip Zubcic missed his first round and took 14th place in the final.
