Coming soon in yellow?

After seven consecutive victories, last night (Saturday) Maccabi Tel Aviv recorded its third league loss of the season when it was defeated 91:85 in Eilat by Hapoel Eilat of Ariel Beit Halachmi.

Yannis Sapropoulos' team maintains its first place in the table, but if Gilboa / Galil does not drop its missing games against the Yellows, it will overtake it in the table.

The Yellows appeared for the game without Scotty Wilbkin, Angelo Cloiaro and Othello Hunter receiving a rest, and from the opening chased the opponent from the south.

Eilat opened an 18-point lead, about 5 minutes and a half, but at this point Maccabi Tel Aviv began to wake up, and quickly reduced the gap when in the last quarter they managed to shrink to 3 points, but no more.

Tyler Dorsey and Ante Žižić led with 20 points each, with the Croatian center adding 11 rebounds, and apart from them only Oz Blazer scored in double digits with 10 points.

The team soon realized what led to the loss: "The loss in Munich on Thursday was traumatic, and this time we met a quality rival unlike some of the previous games and at home, it is a clear recipe for loss," said one of the team members.

"There is no doubt that we have left out three players who will be on the roster for the Money Time games in the league, because we have very important games this week. It is not a loss that is the end of the world."

As their chances of qualifying for the next round of the Euroleague diminish, the list of candidates for the next season for the team grows.

Another player who is a candidate to join the team is chin Devin Booker, who is expected to leave Moscow Khimki who is not scheduled to play in the Euroleague next season.

Boker was supposed to come to Maccabi Tel Aviv two years ago, but the team preferred Othello Hunter.

For next season, Žižić is holding a contract for another season, while with Hunter, the team has an option to extend his contract by more than $ 1 million, a problematic amount given the budget, which is expected to remain relatively low.

Boker (30, 2.05), a 2013 graduate of Clemson University, began his professional career in France with three years at Nancy, Bourgeois and Questionnaire before getting a chance at Bayern Munich where he played for three years.

In his first season in the Euroleague he recorded 8.9 points and 3.5 rebounds per game.

Last season he reached the Moscow Khimki where he recorded 11.6 points and 4.8 rebounds per game.

This season, the Euroleague table closes with 13.1 points and 5.7 rebounds per game.
