Starligue: shock of extremes and expected rebound ... what you need to know before Istres-PSG

2021-02-28T07:07:19.508Z

Braked Thursday in the Champions League, PSG returns to the championship with a trip to Istres, this Sunday (3 p.m.).

Less than four days after their defeat at Flensburg (28-27) in the Champions League, Paris Saint-Germain returned to the Starligue.

The opportunity to keep a perfect record against the ninth in the championship.

After 15 days, the Parisians have accumulated 15 victories.

Paris must bounce back.

If everything was not to be thrown Thursday in Flensburg, the proteges of Raul Gonzalez will have to erase their catastrophic start to the game.

After the first 30 minutes, the Blue and Red were 9 goals behind (19-10).

The Homeric return of the Parisians in the second half (17-9) was not enough to hide the shortcomings that remain to be corrected.

This trip to the league could help remedy this, and would also allow a good conclusion to this week of four matches.

A shock of extremes in attack.

Istres is in a promising position for his third straight season in the top flight.

Bouches-du-RhĂ´ne players are ninth, with only 13 out of 17 possible matches.

But this classification masks an attack at half mast.

With 338 goals scored (26 on average per game), Istres is in penultimate place in the attack classification.

PSG, he prances in the lead with 527 goals scored (35.13 on average).

Be careful, however, to the defensive qualities of the Istreans, seventh best defense (28.08 goals conceded on average).

Parisians are third in this area (26.07 on average).

Guardians to watch.

The ranking of the best goalkeepers in Starligue is not mistaken.

Sixth, PSG goalkeeper Vincent GĂ©rard has stopped 128 shots since the start of the season (37% success).

Seventh, the Istreian goalkeeper Arnaud Tabarand has nothing to be ashamed of (122 shots repelled, 31% success).

The former PSG (in 2007-2008) remains on an incredible performance in Cesson-Rennes (victory 27-26), February 18, with 15 parades.
