The former Bundesliga professional Sebastian Kehl will be the new sports director of Borussia Dortmund next year.
The "Bild" newspaper and the "Kicker" report unanimously.
Accordingly, Kehl will succeed Michael Zorc, who will not extend his expiring contract.
A confirmation from the club is still pending.
The measure would not come as a surprise.
Kehl has been head of the licensing area since summer 2018, previously he played for BVB between 2002 and 2015.
In 2002, 2011 and 2012 Kehl became German champions with the club.
As »Bild« and »Kicker« report, the contract has not yet been signed, but Kehl has agreed on the promotion with managing director Hans-Joachim Watzke.
At the beginning of the year, Watzke was still covered about a decision.
"At the end of the day, I need a clear view of whether Sebastian can map the entire business from 2022." At the same time, he had announced that a decision should be made in the spring.
In addition to Kehl, the former Dortmund chief scout Sven Mislintat, currently sports director at league rivals VfB Stuttgart, was considered a possible successor to Zorc.
After the end of his professional career in 1998, Zorc was promoted to the Dortmund team's sporting director.
Together with Watzke, he shaped an era and led the club to the 2013 Champions League final, among other things. He announced his departure last June.
He actually wanted to end his career as a functionary this summer.
Watzke personally asked him for an extension, Zorc said in June.
