Newcastle United football club announced the death of its former coach Glenn Roeder after a long struggle with cancer.
"We are deeply saddened by the death of our player and former team coach Glenn Roeder, at the age of 65," the club said in a tweet on its official Twitter page.
Roeder led the Newcastle United team in 219 games and was able to move the team from the First Division to the Premier League in 1984.
Roeder concluded his football career as a management advisor at Stevenage FC in 2016.
