The Kingdom of Bahrain has offered Formula 1 employees who are taking part in the pre-season tests (March 12-14) and the opening race in the country on March 28, voluntary vaccinations against Covid-19.

This offer is part of a vaccination program that is currently being expanded to include events in the country.

According to the BBC, however, Formula 1 has rejected the offer.

A spokesman for motorsport premieres told the BBC that the sport had "no plans" to get vaccinated as a group "before the vaccines are available in the UK health system."

According to the report, Formula 1 teams are expected to respond in the same way to the offer.

Formula 1 is headquartered in Great Britain, and eight of the ten racing teams have their headquarters or at least one branch there.

In the UK, 19.7 million people have already received their first dose of vaccine.

"We don't want to push ourselves ahead with the vaccination"

A statement from the Bahrain International Circuit on Sunday said: “Due to the schedule for this year's Formula 1 event, including testing, the vast majority of participants will be in Bahrain for a period of three weeks.

This is a unique opportunity to offer those who wish to take this opportunity additional protection in the form of a vaccination. ”The vaccine offered is Pfizer-BioNTech's vaccine, which, according to Bahrain, takes two doses 21 days apart should be administered.

The new Formula 1 boss Stefano Domenicali said at the beginning of February: “The priority is with the weakest.

We don't want to push each other with the vaccination. "
