It was with these words that British Prime Minister Boris Johnson unveiled his desire to see England part of the organization of the FIFA World Cup in 2030. In an interview with the
Sun
, the English leader affirms his desire to lead a joint candidacy between Great Britain and Ireland in order to present this project.
A historic announcement from a country that has not hosted the FIFA World Cup since 1966, when the “Three Lions” won, for the only time in its history.
“We really, really want to bring football home in 2030. I think it's the right place.
This is the homeland of football, now is the right time.
It will be an absolutely wonderful thing for the country.

A budget of 3 billion euros planned

, the British government plans to release 2.8 billion pounds, or the equivalent of 3.24 billion euros to promote this potential campaign.
But for now, nothing has been done.
The football federations of the United Kingdom and Ireland recently launched a feasibility study to consider this joint candidacy for the 2030 World Cup. Before arriving there, Boris Johnson wishes to take advantage of the Euro next summer (11 June -12 July) as a showcase.
The European competition will take place in 12 different cities, including London, which is due to host seven matches including a semi-final and the final.
However, the Prime Minister does not want to stop there and says he is ready to host more matches: "If there are other matches they want to see organized, we are ready to host them, but for now , it is UEFA which takes care of it, added the resident of 10 Downing Street.
Boris Johnson intends to use the Euro
For its part, the Irish federation said the governing bodies are "delighted that the British government has committed to supporting a potential candidacy for five associations".
If this project is to succeed, it will require a union of these authorities;
England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
FIFA's selection process to nominate the host nation in 2030 will begin within a year.
As a reminder, the 2022 World Cup will take place in Qatar and the 2026 edition in the United States, Mexico and Canada.
