It didn't take long before ice hockey Bayern league club TSV Peißenberg presented the successor to coach Randy Neal.

There are familiar faces on the new coaching staff.

Peißenberg

- The people in charge of the Peißenberg "ice hackers" had hardly announced the separation from coach Randy Neal, when his name was already circulating.

Now it's official: Christian Kratzmeir is the new head coach of the Bayern league team.

“Of course it's a leap from the U20 to the adult sector, but I have a lot of experience as a player and I have good people by my side.

That's why I have the confidence to do the job, ”says Kratzmeir.

The 45-year-old, who has played 602 games from the national league to the major league, sees himself well prepared for his new task.

Ice hockey: Christian Kratzmeir has a reputation for being a perfectionist

The team that supports him includes Sepp Staltmayr, who coached the Peißenberger from 2017 to 2019.

“I am very happy that Sepp has accepted.

We think very similarly when it comes to ice hockey, ”said Kratzmeir, pleased about the support from the long-time professional.

Third in the league is Daniel Lenz, who, in addition to his role as sports director, will also help the coaching team.

“How the three of them will divide up their tasks will become clear over the coming months,” reports “Eishackler” spokesman Andreas Schugg.

He is in good spirits that the Peißenberger made the right choice.

“I heard from the coaching environment that Christian is an amazing coach.

He is ambitious, extremely committed and always stands one hundred percent behind his team.

A perfectionist who leaves nothing to chance, ”says Schugg, praising the 45-year-old.

I am a team player.

If you want to do something properly, you need support.

Christian Kratzmeir, new trainer of the "ice hackers"

Some time ago, Kratzmeir had already expressed his interest in the coaching job with the Peißenberg senior team to ex-board member Norbert Ortner (we reported).

"Due to his resignation and the special circumstances with the interim department head, the topic then dragged on," says Kratzmeir.

In the past few days, however, nails were made with heads.

He is well aware of the difficulty of the task.

“In Peißenberg, a very large magnifying glass is put on what an ice chopper coach does,” says the insurance employee, who does not want to rule out the possibility that the coaching team will get even bigger.

“I am a team player.

If you want to do something properly, you need support, ”is the maxim of the new Peißenberg trainer, who wants to get started right away.

"We now have to set a certain speed when talking to the players because all teams use the quiet time to work on the squad."

Ice hockey: In the next few weeks, Kratzmeir wants to put the team together for the next season

Kratzmeir sees his main task in the next few weeks in assembling the team.

The direction continues to be: rely on locals and integrate as many home-grown crops as possible.

“I am sure that we will get a good team together,” he says with confidence.

At the same time, he is looking at the coming ice age.

He hopes for an end to the corona-related restrictions.

“We are planning a completely normal season,” said Kratzmeir.
