High level triathlete, Marion de Meyer had a very bad experience with her first pregnancy, two years ago, due to a lack of information. She rejoices

In the closet for some time to come, his cycling outfit and his running shoes patiently await the sunny days.

Since the end of January and the birth of her daughter, Marion de Meyer has resumed her mother's outfit, to the detriment of that of a sportswoman.

And unlike the first, this time she was able to enjoy her second pregnancy.

Sport and maternity: how to stay in shape during pregnancy

An experience that this high-level triathlete, who has practiced for a long time in Seine-et-Marne, uses her blog (Triathlon for fun) and as head of the maternity committee within the SFP-APA (the Company French for professionals in adapted physical activity).

What memories do you have of your first pregnancy?

MARION DE MEYER.

It was extremely demoralizing.

Not at the level of the pregnancy itself, but by the message that I received as a sportswoman.

As I was not in a club, and that I was not followed by a gynecologist aware of the sport, I only had alarmist messages.

So I quit the sport, felt very guilty and, inevitably, I felt bad.

I am a woman above all, and no one heard that I needed to understand and be accompanied.

Did that serve as a lesson to you?

It especially helped me.

Nine months is a very long time, and for my well-being, I continued physical activity for my second pregnancy.

Psychologically, I dreaded my last pregnancy a lot.

I chose not to communicate on this aspect with the medical profession because I felt neither heard, nor understood, nor accompanied.

Fortunately, thanks to my university training in adapted physical activity (Master II) at the University of Poitiers, I was able to find scientific answers to my questions and feel more comfortable in my decision-making.

What do you think of the guide published by the ministry?

It is very good because it has the merit of raising awareness on the subject by popularizing it.

As I am curious, I have read dozens of articles, but I also put myself in the shoes of women who do not know where to look, do not know who to be accompanied and can do anything, which implies risks for mother and baby.

This guide should help take into account the needs of these women.

And, then, we must also listen to and trust each other.
