Former Buccaneer Michael Assien has been linked with the allegations that he has been linked with the allegations in a statement issued Friday stating "Similar, baseless allegations concerning".

The contact wrote: "Ghana supports equality, we see you, we support you, the LGBT community in Ghana." The post caused a stir in the African country, where homosexual relations are prohibited by law. Following pressure from surfers, Asien deleted the post.

Asien's support for the LGBT community apparently came due to Ghanaian President Nana Acupo - Edo's announcement recently that he would not allow same-sex marriage as long as he is in the country's leadership. "Acopo-ado same-sex marriage will not be legal in Ghana."

Asien currently works on the coaching staff of the Danish club Nurshland.

As a Chelsea player he won the Champions League, two Premier League championships, four FA Cups and the League Cup before ending his tenure at Stamford Bridge in 2014. Among other things he also played for Lyon, Real Madrid and AC Milan.
