Denise Imoudu directed it brilliantly.
In the cup final against SC Potsdam on Sunday, the 25-year-old German national player from Schweriner SC was the decisive woman.
The setter led her team to a 3-0 win, the cup win is her first big title.
Imoudu is an exciting player.
She is considered the upcoming manager in the national team.
But two particularities of German volleyball in general can also be illustrated by its history: It is elitist and hardly diverse.
While the national soccer team would be inconceivable without immigrant or working-class children, it is different in German volleyball.
He is mostly white.
It is also considered an academic sport.
According to the German Volleyball Association (DVV), 90 percent of all female squad players in the past 20 years had a high school diploma - as did Imoudu.
As the child of an engineering couple, Imoudu's career is representative of the vast majority of the careers of national players.
As the daughter of a Nigerian, Imoudu is also a specialty in the German national team.
Because there are only a few non-white players.
