“The cat”, Benoît Paire's self-deprecating advertisement on his favorite expression

LE SCAN SPORT - The French tennis player plays with his image and his escapades in the field to promote a lottery application. A very successful streak.

An atypical player on the ATP circuit, Benoît Paire is talked about as much for his casual attitude on the courts mixed with his overflowing activity on social networks as for his ups and downs.

A show all by itself in the middle of a match when it comes off its hinges, the French player has made himself famous in recent months by regularly complaining of a bad luck pursuing him with an expression that now sticks to his skin: "The lack of pussy".

"Still no cat, never a cat, curse, all my life", had dropped the Avignon last June when he was mistreated by Matteo Berettini on the courts of the Mouratoglou Academy.

A year earlier, he had provoked laughter from the public at Roland Garros by losing his temper after a point made by Kei Nishikori, lucky, according to him, by screaming: "The cat, the cat he has, the chaaaaaatte!"

This expression has become a real trademark, to such an extent that it now serves to enhance the image of the player.

Pair published a promotional clip for a lottery brand on social networks on Tuesday.

We see the 31-year-old athlete parodying himself, letting his anger explode on a court while lamenting “Always the same, never a cat, completely zero!”, Before returning to his chair.

He then checks his smartphone and the online gambling site to find that he has actually won five million euros.

“The cat, the chaaaatte, the chaaaaaaaaatte!”, Then explodes the bearded tennis player showing an astonishing self-mockery and a beautiful actor's number.
