Watch Maccabi Haifa's 1: 2 over Hapoel Tel Aviv, including the spectacular goal by Jose Rodriguez (Sport 1)

Anyone who has been around Jose Rodriguez in recent days has seen something go by.

The Spanish connection was particularly subdued due to the death of his cousin from Corona and Maccabi Haifa tried to pick him up in any way possible.

Yesterday (Wednesday), after obtaining the approvals from the association and the administration, the Greens announced to the link that the whole team would come up with black ribbons as a sign of mourning.

In conversations with him, too, the players made it clear to Rodriguez that the game would be dedicated to him, and they would do anything to give him a victory.

The gestures to the Spaniard also continued with the first goal, with Charon Cherry running towards his friend.

The climax was of course at Rodriguez's own mighty gate, after which he could no longer hold back the tears.

"The whole game was for Jose," said a player on the team.

"We saw that he was really in real grief. He said that cousin was very close to him emotionally and we wanted in such a difficult moment to encourage him a little. Fortunately we succeeded and in the best way possible. Jose himself scored the debut goal which is without a doubt the league's goal so far."

After the Spanish game he thanked his friends in the locker room and then conveyed the message on social media as well, thanking the players and the club for all the gestures towards him.

And apart from Rodriguez, there was also a game and in Haifa they could breathe a sigh of relief after the final whistle that heralded three more points, in stark contrast to what was happening on the lawn.

The Greens showed perhaps their weakest game during Barak Bachar's period in the second half but managed to keep the score and the summit.

"This is our most significant victory this season," stated a player on the team.

"In a game like this, which we really did not deserve to win, against a rival in momentum, we managed to keep three points and that is very significant. These are exactly the games that must pass successfully if you really want to win the championship."

In Haifa, they also complimented a rival from Tel Aviv.

"This is our toughest win of the season," a team official stated.

Even among the players they said that they already felt towards the end of the game that they were falling off their feet.

"There's a lot of fatigue," said a source.

On Saturday, Haifa will meet Maccabi Petah Tikva and the Greens hope that the missing staff will not be shortened any further.

Nikita Rokavitsia held a personal training session yesterday for the first time in two weeks but is still in doubt for the game.

The club estimates that he will be on the roster but understands that they will not be able to load him immediately and he is not expected to start in the squad.

"Nicky felt symptoms and that's critical," the group said.

"We will not burden him so as not to cause him to collapse. The return will depend mainly on him and his feelings."

Even the one who became the ultimate replacement for Rokavitsia, Goodsway Donio, is in great doubt for the game against the Malabuses.

The striker felt a muscle strain and will undergo a photo today to find out the severity of the injury.

Haifa understands that there is a good chance that Donio will be absent on Saturday, and hopes that the period of absence will end there.

Yuval Ashkenazi, who is returning to matters, is still in doubt and it is unclear whether he will return to the staff.

The one who will return is Eid Habashi, who has completed his expulsion sentence.
