Thomas Tuchel won the German coaching duel against Jürgen Klopp in the English Premier League.

His Chelsea FC won 1-0 (1-0) at Klopps FC Liverpool through a goal from Mason Mount (42nd minute).

For Liverpool it was a record series of defeats.

For the first time in the club's history, the club has lost five home games in a row in the league.

In the table, Chelsea, unbeaten in ten games in a row under coach Tuchel, improved to fourth place.

Liverpool have to worry about qualifying for the Champions League as seventh.

In particular, Klopp's team's new weakness at home is glaring.

Liverpool had previously set a club record, up to the 1-0 loss to Burnley in January, the club had been unbeaten at home in 68 games in a row.

Before losing to Chelsea, Liverpool had won four games in a row away from bottom of the table Sheffield United.

Chelsea's Mount (42nd minute) scored the winning goal for the guests from London in the stadium on Anfield Road shortly before half-time, in which the German internationals Timo Werner and Antonio Rüdiger were in the starting line-up.

Kai Havertz only came into play two minutes before the end for Werner, who had taken the supposed lead after 24 minutes.

But referee Craig Pawson did not recognize the goal after consulting the video referee because of a previous offside position.

Liverpool had no luck in the second half.

Roberto Firmino shot the ball from close range in the penalty area into the hand of Chelsea's N'Golo Kanté, who had raised his arm.

But referee Martin Atkinson and the video assistant saw no reason for a hand penalty.

Over long distances, however, Liverpool acted heavily in the attack.

Chelsea created more chances and were more dangerous.

For the first time, Jürgen Klopp and Thomas Tuchel faced each other in the Premier League.

The two German coaches last met when Klopp played with Liverpool in the Champions League against Paris Saint-Germain, trained by Tuchel.
