Frenchman Benoit Bear left the Argentine Open tennis championship after defeating Francesco Serendole, 4-6, 6-3, 6-1.
Peer, ranked 29th in the world and third in the championship, lost his nerve due to the decision of one of the lines' referees when he was trailed 2-0 in the second set, as the referee calculated a correct ace from Serendolo.
Bear, 31, defied the referee but was unable to persuade him to change the decision, so he spat on the ball and got a warning from the referee for his behavior.
The referee took a point from the French player in the same group after he spat for the second time and quarreled with the referee again.
Trailing 5-1 in the group on Earth, Bear appeared to have made two double faults on purpose to lose the match.
Bear fired his last serve off the field while the collector was on the field to take the last serve ball.
The French team, Bear, was previously excluded from the 2016 Rio Olympics due to spending too much time outside the Olympic Village.
