Roger Federer has not played at all since the Australian Championship last year, then lost 7: 6 (1), 6: 4, 6: 3 to Novak Djokovic in the semi-finals.

Now the Swiss is preparing for his comeback and will get back to business already during the coming week in the Doha tournament from the 250 ATP round.

Along with the Swiss, who has not played at all in the last 13 months, the tournament will also feature Dominic Tim, last year's champion Andrei Rublev and 2019 winner Roberto Bautista Agot.

After the tournament in Doha, Federer will continue for another tournament in Abu Dhabi.

Today Federer uploaded a video of his story from the airport and said: "Hello everyone, I'm on my way to a flight to Doha. It's been a year since I flew to the tournament and I'm very excited and it's maybe a moment I can thank all the people. "I look forward to returning, I hope you all watch the games and follow."

Despite his long absence, Federer is still ranked fifth in the world due to various rules that kept tennis players from playing during the Corona and in any case he had a protected rating due to an injury from which he suffered.

Federer is 39 years old and this August he will celebrate 40.
