Fenerbahce Istanbul has to do without his winter signing Mesut Özil for weeks.
The former German international injured his ankle in the 1: 1 (0: 1) in the Süper Lig against Antalyaspor.
As Fenerbahce reported, he suffered "partial tears in the inner and outer collateral ligaments of the ankle and intense edema in the inner-outer ankle bones of the ankle".
According to Turkish media reports, the 32-year-old is likely to be out for up to six weeks.
In the 67th minute, Özil was brought into the cabin on a stretcher and held his hands in front of his face after he had twisted his head in a duel.
"I'm really sad that I won't be able to help my team in the next few games," Özil wrote on social media.
“But it could have been worse.
I'll try to be back on the pitch as soon as possible. "
Only the seventh competitive game
After his move from Arsenal FC to Turkey, it was only his seventh competitive game and the fifth from the start.
But it wasn't just because of Özil's injury that it wasn't a good evening for Fenerbahce.
Fredy gave Antalyaspor an early lead (12th), Enner Valencia (83rd) only scored the late equalizer.

Lukas Podolski came on as a substitute for Antalyaspor in the 83rd minute.
The 35-year-old became world champion together with Özil in 2014.
At Antalyaspor, Podolski has not gotten beyond a joker role for weeks.
