Very soon it will become official: Joan Laporta will be the new president of Barcelona.
Whoever served in the post from 2003 to 2010 will succeed Joseph Maria Bartomeu, who was ousted in disgrace after, after reports in Spain he managed to overcome the presidential election over his pair of rivals Victor Pont and Tony Freisha.
"This is the most important election in the history of the club," Laporta said earlier today.
His deputy, Rafael Justa, declared after the polls closed: "We are very happy and already waiting for all the votes to be counted, but everything shows that Aporta will be president. From now on, Ronald Koeman and the players can know they have a presidential figure, which is important for any large organization."

Under the leadership of Laporta in his first term, Barcelona won four Spanish championships and twice lifted the Champions League - in 2005/06 and 2008/09.
During the campaign he announced that if he was re-elected, he intended to contact Lionel Messi's father immediately to ensure the big star's stay.
"Joan and Leo love each other very much, now they will have time to talk," Justa said tonight.
After the election, Laporta is scheduled to take off for Paris, where he will reunite with his new-old team, which will host Saint-Germain on Wednesday as part of the Champions League quarter-final rematch.
