A lot of fighting, a lot of midfield at Cologne against Werder

1. FC Köln is still in the relegation battle of the Bundesliga.
Against Werder Bremen it was only enough for FC to score 1: 1 (0: 0), Cologne are now four points ahead of the relegation place in 14th place. Werder, on the other hand, is slowly saying goodbye to midfield.
Werder's goalkeeper Jan Pavlenka helped Cologne to split the points late.
The home weakness of Cologne remains, the FC only managed a success in the home stadium this season.
This puts them on a level with the bottom group Schalke 04. The team has only scored seven home points so far this season.
A lively game developed in the first half, but the actions mostly remained in midfield.
Cologne was the more active, Bremen the slightly more mature team in the play area.
Under these circumstances, scoring chances hardly developed: In the initial phase, the ball slipped once over the head of Bremen's striker Niclas Füllkrug.
On the other side, Ellyes Skhiri came free to head after a corner kick and failed to Werder goalkeeper Jiri Pavlenka.

After the change, something more happened at the gates.
Right after the break, Ludwig Augustinsson had the chance to score, but Timo Horn thwarted it in the Cologne goal.
As a result, however, the Cologne team took the initiative again.
It didn't look bad at times, which the Gisdol team combined, but they too remained far too harmless near the penalty area.
So it was Bremen who used their second opportunity to score the lead in the second half.
Josh Sargent found a long cross in the five-meter space, the striker headed an untenable for Horn (66th minute).
When the game was already approaching 0: 1, the FC managed to draw in the 83rd minute.
Pavlenka grabbed the ball in a dogfight with Cologne's Emmanuel Dennis, Cologne's Jonas Hector then only had to push it in.
