Coupe de France: Monaco last qualified after victory against Nice

ASM won (0-2) the Côte d'Azur derby against the Aiglons, at the end of the round of 16, Monday evening in Nice.

Monaco started as favorite in this last round of 16 of the Coupe de France against their neighbor from Nice.

The 4th in the Ligue 1 championship, despite a recent hitch against Strasbourg (1-0), is indeed in much better health than OGC Nice, 11th, 20 points behind ASM.

But in a Cup match, everything is overhauled.

And the Aiglons scared the players of Niko Kovac, who took shelter at the end of the match for a deserved success (0-2).

Monaco certainly rather dominated the Niçois, with in particular a better controlled first period, rewarded by a nice goal in the 29th minute of the inevitable Kévin Volland, on a school action with Cesc Fabregas as a decisive passer on a receding center.

Unstoppable.

Dolberg on the pole

Before that, Nice had practically equalized with a restless Alexis Claude-Maurice, before gradually dying out.

We had to wait for the return of the locker room for the Niçois, at home, to approach a little more of the cages of Majecki, preferred to Lecomte for the Monaco goal.

First on a big strike against Alexis Claude-Maurice (54th), then on a sequence of Dolberg whose strike ends on the post (62nd).

But there was more talent on the side of the Monegasques like an inspired Jovetic-Fabregas duo.

And it is finally Ruben Aguilar who shelters the ASM with a second goal three minutes from time (0-2, 87th).

Solid, Monaco crosses the obstacle and notably joins its companions from the top of the table, Lille, Paris and Lyon, in the round of 16 of the Coupe de France.
