A morning after the painful loss (80:77) in the derby, Hapoel Tel Aviv signed American guard James Young (25, 1.98 m), who will strengthen the staff Danny Franco until the end of the season.
Young, a 17th-ranked Kentucky College graduate in the 2014 draft, played 108 NBA games in the Boston and Philadelphia uniforms, and in recent years has played for the Milwaukee and New York Knicks G-League teams.
Last season, Young played 19 games for Maccabi Haifa, averaging 20.5 points per game with 41% off the arc and adding more than five rebounds per game.
In recent weeks, Young has played in the development league bubble in Orlando in a Westchester Knicks uniform, and is expected to land in Israel in the coming days to team up with his new teammates in red (after completing his isolation period).
Team coach Danny Franco said: "James is a talented player and I'm sure he will help us in the battles that await us in the coming months. We will do whatever it takes to integrate him quickly so that he can contribute to us and we can collect victories."
