Today it's getting serious for skier Nadine Kapfer.

The 21-year-old Peitinger competes at the Junior World Championships in Bulgaria.

Not just in their favorite discipline.

- If the dress rehearsal is not that successful, then it should work all the better at the premiere, according to the vernacular.

This is what Nadine Kapfer from Peitinger hopes this Monday, who will celebrate her premiere in Super-G at 11 a.m. at the Junior World Championships (JWM) in Bansko (Bulgaria).

Most recently, Kapfer was at the European Cup races in the Italian Fassa Valley.

Two Super-Gs were on the program there - on the slope that had already challenged the World Cup riders a week earlier.

Two serious falls by Kajsa Vickhoff (Norway) and Rosina Schneeberger (Austria) shocked fans and professionals at the time.

"It's shocking when you see that something like this can happen to even the best," says Kapfer, who starts for SC Garmisch.

"But in the race you don't have that in the back of your head."

Kapfer knows that she still has a lot of experience to gain

The route at the Pellegrino Pass is very demanding, the snow is usually very aggressive, so it is always great to drive, but does not allow any mistakes.

In the European Cup races, in which she finished 42nd and 34th, Kapfer got some passages great, but then built avoidable mistakes in other places.

"It annoys me, but I will take the good feeling of the fast passages with me and try to assemble a complete run out of them in Bansko," she says optimistically.

Kapfer as well as the trainers are aware that they simply still have to gain a lot of experience.

The learning process in the speed disciplines is a long one, and the learning curve is sometimes not always steep.

Nevertheless, the woman from Peitingen recently proved on the Kandahar in Garmisch-Partenkirchen that she can deliver top rides.

"My performances there, especially in the Super-G, certainly played a role in the nomination for the JWM," says the 21-year-old.

Participated in all three races

Because, as a speed driver, she had actually not expected a start at the junior world championships, which were reduced this year due to Corona and therefore very technology-heavy.

Second overall and the junior title in the combination of the German championships as well as fifth and eighth in the Super-Gs spoke for themselves.

Kapfer's goal for Bansko is therefore: “To drive as well as in Garmisch-Partenkirchen and see what comes out of it.” She doesn't have a fixed place in her head at her premiere, she just wants to show her best possible performance.

After today's Super-G, which is of course her focus, Kapfer will also start in giant slalom and slalom.

Because the four nominated German runners start - like the boys - in all three JWM races.

"The technical disciplines will certainly be a challenge," says Kapfer.

“But after my good combination in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, I'm really looking forward to doing two slalom runs again.” She takes her club colleague Simon Jocher, who proved at the World Championships in Cortina that speed drivers are very fast too Get slalom curves.

The Wildsteiger has not yet really understood what she has succeeded in doing.

His wild mane is well known to the Peitinger ice hockey fans: Ty Morris has been storming for the league club since 2015.

But the 37-year-old is not only an enthusiastic athlete - he is also a thoroughbred girl-dad.

Ski racer Simon Jocher won the combined title at the DM in Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

The Schongauer had to do without the top trophy.
