He is one of the top scorers at EC Peiting: Martin Hlozek settled in quickly.

But he is not satisfied with the league yet.

Peiting

- "New York, Rio, Rosenheim" - was what Sportfreunde Stiller sang about several years ago.

In a slightly modified form, this triple constellation also applies to Martin Hlozek in places.

In his case it is called Augsburg, Salzburg, Peiting.

The striker has been wearing the ECP jersey since last summer.

"He flew to us," reports Peiting's team manager Gordon Borberg about the circumstances that led to the 20-year-old striker's commitment.

His older brother Michal (37) once played with Sebastian Buchwieser in Höchstadt.

"That's why I knew he was a good coach," says Martin Hlozek after the Peitinger trainer contacted Hlozek's agent.

“I was received very well and I also feel very comfortable in Peiting,” says the native Czech, who came to his father in Augsburg at the age of 16, where he also played for three years in the AEV youth team.

For the 2019/20 season he moved to the Red Bulls Academy in Salzburg.

"We trained twice a day on and four times outside the ice," reports Hlozek of a very intensive ice hockey time in Austria.

If the distance learning allows, he plays golf or tennis

Nevertheless, he still found time to devote himself to his distance learning, which he continues to pursue in Peiting.

When he's not playing ice hockey or studying for his studies, Hlozek is passionate about tennis and golf.

"Last year I played golf with Nardo Nagtzaam and Martin Mazanec more often until it was no longer possible due to Corona," says the striker, who formed a row with Nagtzaam and Ty Morris at the beginning of the season.

The interaction with the two veterans also paid off: "I learned a lot from both of them and also benefited," says Hlozek, who played his way into the foreground with a few goals.

The corona break at the ECP at the end of last year slowed him down a little.

“It was a bit difficult to get back in after that.

But now it works again, ”said Hlozek.

The striker, who lives from his speed and agility, now sees himself in good shape again - even if Corona is currently slowing the team down again.

He prefers to be on the outside lane.

“Playing center is not my thing because I don't like the face-off game,” says the 20-year-old, who is currently second behind Nagtzaam (20) with 15 goals in the Peitinger team's internal goalscorer list.

Hlozek's goal danger could well arouse desires at other clubs for the coming season.

"I like it in Peiting, but my goal is to play in a higher league", Hlozek frankly admits that he wants to establish himself in the professional field.

However, he is not yet thinking about the coming season.

First of all, the focus is on Peiting.

“We have a good team and I want to get into the play-offs with them.

And then it should go as far as possible. ”And who knows, maybe one day he'll end up in New York.

As is well known, there are two high-class ice hockey teams there: the Rangers and the Islanders.
