Abdullah bin Mosaad, who has just bought La Berrichonne (Ligue 2), his fifth club, is at the head of a fortune estimated at 200 million

Abdullah bin Mosaad, the future new boss of the Chateauroux club, current last in Ligue 2, now has almost as many football clubs as children.

At 55, this Saudi prince, father of seven children, has just offered his fifth club after Sheffield United (English Premier League), K Beerschot VA (Belgian Pro League), Kerala United FC (India) and Al Hilal ( United Arab Emirates).

Grandson of Ibn Séoud, the founder of modern Saudi Arabia, Abdullah bin Mosaad is at the head of a personal fortune estimated at 200 million euros.

The half-brother of the assassin of King Faisal in 1975 explains that his fortune is not only the fruit of a golden inheritance but, on the contrary, of a long labor.

He had trouble getting bank loans!

“As a prince, you have to fight stubborn prejudices,” he explained a few years ago.

Everyone imagines that everything was easy and given to you, that you have a lot of money, but it was not the case for me.

"

Perhaps because of his ancestry, he explains that he had difficulty obtaining bank loans from the Saudi state when he started the Saudi Paper Manufacturing Company in 1990.

A recycling company that makes toilet paper and towels.

Success is everywhere in the Middle East.

And, for fifteen years, his company has been listed on the stock exchange.

Football: why France is becoming the playground for foreign investors

Sports fan since his childhood, Abdullah bin Mosaad first thought of buying a football club….

American, the San Francisco 49ers before falling back on the round ball.

First with the presidency of Al-Hilal (Saudi Arabia) in 2002. There, he befriended the Belgian assistant coach Jan Van Winckel, future right-hand man of Marcelo Bielsa at OM, and who will become his special adviser in football.

In 2013, with his company World United Group, he bought Sheffield United then, five years later, Beerschot VA, Kerala United and Al-Hilal.

His fixed idea is to have nearly 180 players between all his clubs and move them from one entity to another to toughen them up and bring the best to Sheffield.

Unmissable Michel Denisot

For the redemption of Châteauroux, he relied on the network of the strong man of the region, Michel Denisot, the former boss of the club but especially of PSG.

It was the latter who advised him to quickly hand over the reins of the team to Marco Simone, the former international striker of PSG and close friend of Denisot.

Simone should land in Berry with his assistant Stéphane Porato, the former OM goalkeeper.

The Saudi prince spent 2 million euros to become the majority shareholder of the club up to 80%, with the repurchase of 691 of the 853 shares constituting the share capital.

La Berrichonne will be owned by United Investments Company, an offshore company created in November 2019 and domiciled on the island of Guernsey, a tax haven.

And a subsidiary of the parent company World United Group, based in Geneva.

The probable relegation of the club at the end of the season will not be an end to the ambitions of Abdullah bin Mosaad, who nevertheless undertook to build a workforce in order to immediately return to Ligue 2.
