How French tournaments manage to "survive" in times of Covid-19

Disputed behind closed doors, the women's one in Lyon (last week) and the men's one in Marseille this week, are trying to limit the damage.


After the enchanted Australian parenthesis, marked by the partial return of the public, the male and female circuits in Europe rediscover the sad atmospheres of closed doors indoors.

The beautiful days will wait.

For French professional elite tournaments, like many other events in the men's and women's circuits, the key is to let the storm pass by limiting the damage.

In "survival" mode.

60,000 spectators are expected each year in the Palais des Sports in Marseille for Open 13, probably the toughest ATP 250 tournament of the year which will ring a bell.

This year, no audience, no partners, no journalists.

Just portraits of spectators, in large format, arranged in certain places of the stands to fill the void a little….
