Now it's official: Joachim Lev will leave his post as coach of the German national team after the Euros.
Lev, who led the team to a World Cup win in Brazil in 2014, will end his contract next year, but informed the team leaders that he will leave immediately after the upcoming Euro in the summer.
Lev is the second coach of a big team to leave after the Euros, as is Roberto Mancini who has announced that he will not continue with the Italy team beyond the upcoming Euros.

Lev led Germany to the World Cup, but since then there has been a big setback in the German team, which failed miserably in the subsequent World Cup and did not even make it to the home stage and also failed in the League of Nations.
Lev has been coaching Germany since 2006 after serving as Klinsmann's assistant and before that he coached mostly small teams.
The leading candidate to replace Lev is Jürgen Klopp, although he has a contract at Liverpool until the summer of 2024. The English club will of course be happy to keep Klopp, but the relative failure this season may also cause Klopp to be tempted by an offer from the team and try to rehabilitate it after four bad years.
