The Japanese government has decided that the Tokyo Olympics will be held for local spectators only and will not allow crowds outside Japan.

According to Japanese news agencies, the decision is final, but not yet official.

Only after the heads of the organizing committee meet with the heads of the International Olympic Committee later this month will an announcement come out.

Officials in the Japanese government said today that fears of mutations in the corona virus had led to the unsurprising decision.

Regarding the amount of audience at each event a decision is still made and one such will only be made in late March or early April.

Five different bodies are involved in the decisions, including the Japanese Ministry of Health - this in the shadow of reality in the shadow of the corona.

Naturally, it seems that every event at the Olympics will be examined on its own merits, mainly because it involves a large number of disciplines of a different nature.

Some of them are held in the open air and some in halls, some in stadiums and others in completely open places like competitions in open water (sailing, swimming, rowing and more).

The chairman of the organizing committee, Seiko Hashimoto, had already hinted last week: "We would very much like people from all over the world to come to the Olympics and the stadiums be full, but if we are not ready to accept everyone and the health situation in Japan is not perfect, it will cause a lot of problems for us and them. . "

Tokyo Olympics in 2020, which kept the original name despite adjourned year, will set off on July 23 and will end on August 8.
